24. My, my, my, Beautiful Day!

Picnics will never be the same again, at least not now. If I am to reminisce the good old times, Uncle would get the whole lot of us (God knows how many people. Dad has 8 brothers and three sisters) into his blue Ambassador car and drive us towards Upper Shillong. And the dicky would have been filled with all sorts of mouth-watering goodies. I remember getting sweaty and dirty when I would go climbing small hillocks with my cousin. I being the heftier of the lot, would have to be pushed and prodded from the back to get me climbing a monstrously easy track up. And Mom obviously would dress me in denims, a red chequered shirt, a jacket, a cap and canvas shoes. We would ofcourse go crazy dancing, singing and running in glee for no particular reason.
Fast forward to a cold wintry December morning of 2012 and here we are driving in our plush cars to a resort two and a half hours away from Guwahati. And since I know that it will be a sit-in lunch and we will not be squatting on the chequered mats under the trees, I decided to dress for the 'event'.

.....And what a time we had! The place, the food, the ambience et al was perfect to a tee, not to mention that I was dressed for the occasion in my purple knitted dress, a black coat, a purple hat from Ayesha, knee-length socks and strapped Woodland shoes. I accessorized to the bare minimum with a ring of blue stone and faux diamonds and two neck pieces; one I picked up from a street corner in Mumbai and the other was from Westside. And if u ask me...I was super happy!

23. Jingle bell, Jingle bell, Jingle bell Rock!!

Christmas is special and it gets better when we celebrate it with special people. Christmas is all about being happy, radiant, singing and praying for everyone across the world. So when my nephew Raheel decided to teach me a Christmas song, I jumped to his offer. And all along the evening of Christmas eve, I heard the song being played, when Tirus and my cousin, Saymeen went to pray at the Don Bosco Church. And we sang along......

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Wont you guide my sleigh tonight

Then all other reindeer
Clapped and shouted out with glee
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
You will go down in history.

22. THAT DON’T IMPRESS ME MUCH

I've known a few guys who thought they were pretty smart
But you've got being right down to an art
You think you're a genius you drive me up the wall
You're a regular original a know it all
BRIDGE:
Oh oo oh you think you're special
Oh oo oh you think you're something else
Okay so you're a rocket scientist
That don't impress me much
So you got the brain but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
I never knew a guy who carried a mirror in his pocket
And a comb up his sleeve--just in case
And all that extra hold gel in your hair oughtta lock it
'Cause Heaven forbid it should fall outta place
(BRIDGE)
Okay, so you're Brad Pitt
That don't impress me much
So you got the looks but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
You're one of those guys who likes to shine his machine
You make me take off my shoes before you let me get in
I can't believe you kiss your car good night
C'mon baby tell me--you must be jokin', right!
(BRIDGE)
Okay, so you've got a car
That don't impress me much
So you got the moves but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don't impress me much
You think you're cool but have you got the touch
Don't get me wrong, yeah I think you're alright
But that won't keep me warm on the long, cold, lonely night
That don't impress me much
Okay, so what do you think you're Elvis or something...
Whatever
That don't impress me

                                                                          Whatever.......

21. BLOW HOT, BLOW COLD!

I love what I can do with my ensemble in winter. I simply love wearing all the different dresses that I can lay my hand on...not all..but some of them look great when worn during winters.

Pencil skirts have been a favourite with me since my college days and I still love them. But one should have an hour glass figure to show off a pencil skirt. Though I am not blessed with a figure to die for, but I still manage to carry off any dress with elan.

The best part is I enjoy every second that I am dressing up for an occasion.

My Marks & Spencer stockings are my favourite amongst all the others that I have. Some are branded and some I had just picked up at the spur of the moment. But the M&S stockings give a very slim look to the legs, making them look very elegant.

Knitted dresses have been an all time favourite, more so honed into me by Mom, who used to knit sweaters like crazy. She knitted an angora sweater for me once, which had the most beautiful colours...mauve, pink and blue.

Winters in Assam is not like over the top cold. Different districts of the state have weather variations. So, on days when it's pretty warm during the day, I can choose to wear lighter colours and materials instead of the heavier coats and scarves. Cheers to winter in Assam! I love the choices we can make!

19. LAST CHRISTMAS I GAVE U MY HEART......

I love winters, more so because I can jog for several kilometres and still feel I can run several more. I love the early morning sting of the mist on my cheeks and the mild sweat trickling down my forehead! Oh and then the woolies I get to wear! I love getting into sweaters, wrapping mufflers, wearing long boots and hmmmm... Long overcoats of different colours! The feeling is absolutely heavenly, what with the sun playing only a lazy warmth on us! In short, I love these three months of absolute bliss!

But I especially love the time before the temperatures drop too low. This is the time when we can 'arraamse' put together so many different types of dresses at our own free will without so much as having to think about whether to put on sun-screen and cover our hands or covering ourselves with too many warm clothes. I simply don't understand how people hide themselves under too many layers just as winter sets and simply don't know how to enjoy the icy cold fingers of late November!

18. OVER THE YEARS!!!!

Mom helped me climb the ropes of fashion with her endless ideas and my fashion journey now seems to be endless. Over the years, fashion has changed and so has my ideas of putting different pieces of clothes together to create something that I have loved wearing and people have loved appreciating.

The pictures that I have clicked have gone through some major and some minor changes but the overall effect has been magical. I have loved every bit of the change ‘cause that is the only thing which has been constant in my life.
