12. MA KINKY BOOTS

I love living in my boots. Sometimes I really wish I could have been a cow-girl working in a farm, with my denims and boots, a white shirt and a cow-boy hat. Oh, so much for wishing! I live this life in any which way I want though. I am a bohemian by heart and soul, a free-bird. So, dressing this way is more than easy for me.

I love teaming my boots with practically anything, especially dresses and this Van Huesen dress has been an all time favourite with me.

The frocks from Esprit are to die for. Love them for their cut and flow.

I love this ensemble. My fawn coloured suede boots, denims, a chiffon fly-away top from Forever New and my denim and lace waist-coat.

I teamed this Esprit dress with a black half jacket, my fav boots  from Sole-Station and my fav red bag!

So there, you see, I don't need to work on a farm to be a cow-girl... I already am one!

10. SWADESHI AGAIN

.....and here I am, again talking about sarees and mekhela-sadors and how exotic they look on almost anyone who knows how to drape one around them. Anyone, who knows the magic of a saree, will say it is the (dee) most exotic piece of clothing compared to any other wear across the world.

And the adventure with the saree is simply exciting and endless. The best thing we can do with it is look our graceful best in one of them and at the same time play with the endless colour prospects.

I love the colours in a Maharastrian saree. Bright colours of red, green and what have you, with jari work, which automatically makes me nothing but happy, happy!!

The sarees from Kerala are over the top exotic. The slightly off-whitish body, with a gorgeous gold border and an equally gorgeous pallu, makes it an ensemble to be worn any time of the day! And if you ask me about comfort; it’s one of the best for summer-autumn wear!

My recent favourite is a saree I picked up from one of the trade fairs in the city. It’s a weave in gheesa silk; the thread of which is spun out of the ‘left-overs’ of edi. In fact, wherever I wear it, people just stop to ask me about the material. In a recent conference in Shillong, even the men present for the meeting asked my permission to feel the material of the saree.

Mekhela-sadors though will always remain my favourite. I picked up one from a trade-fair in NEDFI Haat. It was done up in two different coloured borders on both sides; one tomato red and the other blue. It had the feel of a tati saree from Bengal. One look and I was in love with it. The comfort is beyond imagination as it is woven in pure cotton.
Oh and my Mom’s sarees! She obviously has some awesome collection. She had given me one of her sarees in a cream base, with silver leheriya all over the body. I thought I could never carry it. But after this super exciting blouse my designer got me, I decided to try it out for a house-warming party. I teamed it up with silver peep-toes and minimal accessories. Ofcourse, I put on aviators to give the ensemble some chutzpah. And hey presto, I felt like a Queen.

9. DANCE LIKE CINDERELLA!

I have been a thorough romantic all my life. Have always dreamt of this handsome prince in a white steed who would just whisk me away while the trailer from my white gown flowed behind!

And I could somehow see myself in Cinderella ever since I had read the story as a little girl. I could never really grow out of being 16 and thinking of how awesome it would be to dance with the handsome prince all night long, without the clock ever having to strike 12 in the midnight! And all this while I am in my powder-blue satin and lace gown! Ohhh!

Even now, I still have visions of walking with my man in the country-side in the valley of the red and yellow flowers, in a white-based pink flower printed long dress, while the river flows quietly by! Lovey dovey me!!!!

Over the years, I have bought quite a few gowns but have never had the opportunity to wear them too many times. I have got this awesome green satin and black net off-shouldered gown which was my first buy from Body Basics. Then I bought two black gowns from Ritu Kumar; one, an empire cut gown and the other a halter neck, with beautiful cut-work and embroidery on the hem.

I pick up frocks and dresses wherever and whenever I can. I especially love long dresses in an A-line cut and Delhi and Mumbai are good places to pick these up, though I have picked up quite a few cotton dresses from Pantaloons and Mirayaa.

I especially love a horizontally striped sleeveless dress, though I was suggested not to buy it lest I look fat. But I bought it anyway and I think it looks great on me! At least, I feel great in it!

I am a sucker for the ‘70s dressing and love long maxis, the huge hair and big big shades, with the flick of the bat eye-liner and almost nude pouty lips.

I am still on the lookout for more dresses; long flowing ones in pastel shades. I would also love a dark blue frock with pink flowers. And then I would just dance away into the night with my prince! Hmmmm! What dreams!
